Erin Greenberg MD

Dr. Greenberg grew up in Port Charlotte, Florida and is happy to have returned to southwest Florida in 2020 to serve her hometown community. She is a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Ophthalmologist who strives to provide each patient with excellent medical and surgical care for mild to advanced eye disease. She enjoys getting to know her patients and is committed to providing them with individualized care based on their own personal goals. Dr. Greenberg is experienced in treating many ocular conditions including cataracts, corneal diseases, dry eye disease, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and eyelid conditions. She performs a variety of surgeries including cataract surgery, corneal transplants, pterygium and other conjunctival surgery, microinvasive glaucoma surgery, and eyelid surgeries. 

Dr. Greenberg is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also an active member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Women in Ophthalmology, and Lee County Medical Society. 

Erin and her husband love staying busy and active with their two young children. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and cuisines, and visiting family. She is accepting new patients and looks forward to meeting you!  

Education

Dr. Greenberg graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in Biotechnology from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) Next, she completed a Master’s Degree in Molecular Medicine at University of South Florida, then earned her Medical Degree at USF’s Morsani College of Medicine. During medical school, she planned annual mission trips to the Dominican Republic with an organization called Project World Health, providing basic medical care to underserved communities. She eventually created an Eye Care Initiative within that organization, providing basic eye exams, reading and sunglasses to those in need. Dr. Greenberg continued at USF for Ophthalmology Residency where she gained valuable experience at USF, Tampa General Hospital (a Level I Trauma Center), the James A Haley VA and Bay Pines VA Hospitals, and Moffitt Cancer Center learning about and caring for unique and severe eye conditions. During residency, she presented many research projects at academic conferences, contributed to several publications and was honored to be chosen as Chief Resident.

Finally, Dr. Greenberg spent one more year at USF completing her Cornea and External Diseases Fellowship, learning to perform advanced surgical techniques including various types of corneal transplants, ocular surface surgeries and complicated cataract surgeries.
